Ways to Safeguard your Toddlers

Parents are very much concerned about the safety of their toddlers, which is a correct thing to do. But many are unaware of the various precautions they should take to keep their kids safe from dangers such as accidents and diseases. Let’s discus the various aspects of safety all parents should take care of so that their kids are protected from all sorts of possible dangers.

Keeping your toddlers neat and clean is a sure way of protecting them from diseases. Trim their finger and toe nails regularly, and wet nappies should be removed immediately and the soiled body parts cleaned with soap and water. Always try to keep these parts clean and dry along with the genitals to prevent rashes and fungal infection. The head and hair should be properly washed daily with warm water, and shampooed at least once a week. The hair should be combed at lease twice a day. These measures will keep hair healthy and the scalp free of dermatitis, fungal infection and lice.

Toddler clothes should be properly fitting, neither too tight nor too loose. The dress should suit the weather and made of skin friendly materials. Their bed room should be airy, sunny, and free of dust and insects. In cloudy and cold weather make sure that the room is properly lighted, with sufficient warmth. The kids should sleep on a separate bed, preferably in their own bed room.

Breast milk is the best nutrition a kid can have, but if this is not possible then cow’s milk can be substituted. It should be properly boiled and then cooled before serving in a feeding bottle, which should be kept clean and dry. Some food, clothe materials, and other substances are allergic to many kids. Avoid using these allergic things and use only those items that are suitable to your kid.

Keep the kids from insect bites such as bed bugs, lice and mosquitoes. The last named insect is particularly dangerous because it spreads dangerous diseases such as malaria, yellow fever, elephant foot, and dengue fever. Use a mosquito net or repellent to protect your kids from mosquitoes, particularly at night. This precaution along with a calm atmosphere in the bedroom will ensure sound sleep, which is necessary for the activation of growth hormone.
