Toddler Home Schooling Timings

Home schooling hours need to be different from public school hours because the home schooling kids are very few and the quality time of 2 to 3 hours they spent with their parents or tutor at home is sufficient for them to learn much more than the kids at a public school. Of course they have to spend more time in the upper level classes. However, the more time the kids at home are taught, the more they learn. That is why they often turn out to be smarter than the public school kids.

It has been noticed that lower level public school kids waste a lot of time and energy in their class rooms. Although they are in the class the whole day, very few hours are actually spent in learning. Other times, they simply sit or engage in extra-curricular activities. More over, in some days they are driven to learn more and at other days they are taught very little. They spend their time playing or in some other activities.

Hence, it is unwise to imitate the hours of the public school kids for the kids learning at home. The learning hours at home should be flexible and productive, which is the basic principle of home schooling. Therefore, parents should refrain from insisting home schooling kids to spend as many hours learning their books as the same hours spend by the public school kids at their class rooms.

Kids learning at home should spend only that much time required for studying their lessons, and spend rest of the time in extra curricular activities and have some fun. Otherwise the very purpose of home schooling will be defeated and the system will become a burden for the kids.

Home schooling kids need to be given a routine schedule for studies that they should practice regularly without any changes. This will enable them to adjust quickly and get comfortable and easy with the learning experience by helping them to concentrate on the studies during the hours fixed for it. This will free their mind and they can get themselves involved in other activities before and after the study hours.

The duration of time for teaching each subject should depend on the kids. Some subjects are easy for them, while others are tough. More time is needed to be spent on the tougher subjects. Also, please remember that curriculum activities also include outside activities such as field trips, visiting zoos, libraries, and museums, and also watching subject related documentaries.

Hence, the kids need to be given enough time for these activities instead of making them spend more time in-front of text books. In this way learning becomes more fun and productive. Schedule your hours to such a way that the morning hours are spend on learning printed matters, while outdoor activities are undertaken in the afternoon hours.
