Almost all the home schooling starts on a happy note, but gradually problems crops up with the passing of time. One such difficulty relates to the mums, if they are the teachers. A common issue the mums have to often address is a sense of burned out feeling. This could happen due to sickness, pregnancy, child birth, extra work, bereavement or some other problems.
An onslaught of this weariness manifests itself by frequent bout of crying, anxiety, losing patience very often, or even over-eating. When such symptoms appear, brace your-self up and do something to get the better of an unwanted problem. It is a signal that you have to reconsider or restructure your routine and schedules.
One major reason for your feeling burned out could the overwork you are putting into your teaching and other household activities. You are may be aiming too high beyond your capacity. Be more realistic of your abilities, and tone down your expectations to your limit and work accordingly. None is capable of doing every thing perfectly at all times.
There are mood swings too. You work better in some days and feel like a wretch another day. It so happens that all days is not the same. Take a break, or go with the kids for an outing if you feel like it. You can also change of style of teaching by including more fun activities.
Also, tone down the extra curricular activities of the kids if these are wearing you out. While overtaxing yourself for the sake of your kids, you need to remember that you are unknowingly putting them at risk. A tired and angry mother is of no help to any kids. They will soon take your cue and feel themselves miserable too.
Home schooling aims to make learning a pleasure, and if it turns into a battle ground it defeats the very purpose for which it is famous for.
