There are many ways to cut cost of babysitting if parents make careful planning. Let’s discuss some strategies that are sure to save you some hard earned money. While discussing about saving, let us not forget that other than causing expenses kids can bring in some money also through child benefits schemes of the government such as tax credits. Try to get all the details of these benefits, including the working tax credit, and avail all of these on time and as and when due.
Remember the diction that time is money. It applies to the caretaker or the babysitter also. The more time your kid spends with the caretaker, the more money you have to pay. Even quarter and half hours have value. Therefore, make arrangement to get back to your child on time. This can be done by adjusting your schedule or co-ordination with your partner. Also, anticipate unexpected delays as breakdown or traffic jams.
Sharing the babysitting with other like minded parents is another way of saving large amounts of money. For example, appoint a common babysitter for your neighbor’s and your kids. Two or more neighbors could be included, if it is convenient. This will ensure that the kids will have some peers to play with while you are away.
If you require a babysitter for a short while, say for an hour or so once in a while, then see if you can leave the kid with a trusted friend or relative. You can give back this favor on another day when they are in need. This is known as a baby sitting circle. The period of babysitting is divided before midnight and after midnight. It operates on token trading basis. One token is per hour before midnight and two tokens per hour after midnight. You give the token to the person who takes care of your baby and you take it back when you provide the service another day.
Another way of saving some money on baby sitting is to find an obliging relative, who can take care of your kid for just one day a week. The kid’s grand parents or an aunt can take care of this. The kid also would like the change.
