Tips to Prevent Toddler Diaper Rash

Although parents do their best to save their toddlers from getting diaper rash, it often occurs as a matter of course. Diaper rash occurs due to long term contact between the baby’s skin and the moisture in the diaper. Hence, the best way to deter diaper rash is to remove the diaper as soon as it gets wet.

The best diaper your baby could use is the one which have the most moisture absorbing capacity. It will keep the moisture away from the baby’s skin even if there is a short delay in removing the diaper. However, this does not mean that you can keep this wet diaper on longer than the less absorbent ones. You need to remove it as early as possible.

Keeping the wet diaper longer is a sure way to get the diaper rash. Hence, the diaper needs to be taken off as soon as the baby urinate or defecate. Also, apply an anti rash ointment, or any cream such as Vaseline that could form a screen between the baby’s skin and a wet diaper.

Kids who very frequently urinate or has diarrhea are more vulnerable to diaper rash as their diapers get wet very often. You need to check their diapers quite often to find out if these have become uncomfortably wet. The diapers can be used to a tolerable level of wetness. Otherwise, they need to be removed immediately.
