Sweets, Candies and Cookies for Toddlers

Almost all the toddlers are very fond of sweeties that include candies, ice-creams and cookies. However, parents should take care to wean the kids away from developing a special weakness for these sugary items, and should do everything in their power to stop it from becoming a habit. Because too many, even a 2 or 3 helpings a day, of such sugary items can be unhealthy for the kids, especially to their teeth.

The best way to stop them from developing a special liking for sugary items is to keep them away from tempting situations. When they see other kids eating such items in their company, naturally they too want to have some helpings. Also, they will inevitably want some of these stuffs when they see jars of goodies all around them in a shop and kids eating them.

Although it is often difficult to stop the kids from having some samples very often, you can do something to lessen its impact on their health. The first thing to do is to rinse the kid’s mouth properly or brush the teeth immediately after the sweet dish. Also, discourage and stop the kid from eating any of these items just before going to the bed or for a nap. Finally, take care that you are near the kid until s/he polishes off the candy or ice-cream to avoid any choking hazards.
