Of the all the precautions parents can take for the safety of their kids, the most effective is the maximum care, support and love they can give to their kids. It ensures lasting health and happiness for the kids. Additionally, other precautions such as the following are helpful to keep the kids safe from accidents and diseases.
Handle small kids with care. Don’t shake them or slap them. Such actions are enough to give them a shock and cause brain damage. Keeping small objects near the kids is dangerous. They are notorious for putting things in their mouth causing chocking hazards. Similarly, sharp edged and pointed articles should be kept away from kids. These could injure them. Chemical items such as insect repellants, medicines, toilet articles, and so on should be kept out of the reach of children.
Pour water gently over the kids while giving bath. Sudden burst of water could enter their ears and damage ear drums. Feed the kids when they are relaxed. Feeding them while crying or coughing could choke them. Also, overfeeding kids could cause indigestion and bowel disorders. Use clothes that are weather appropriate, skin friendly and properly fitting. Too tight clothes can obstruct movements and also cause rashes.
Some strangers can be dangerous. Don’t let the kids get familiarize with them or eat the food that they give. Also, beware of all electrical gadgets and fittings. Make them child proof and out of reach of the kids. Check if the bed is near any socket or wires. A kitchen has dangerous items such as knives, hot water and fire. Never, leave the kids in the kitchen or in the bath tub alone even for a moment. Smoking is injurious to health, even for the passive smoker. Don’t smoke when the kid is with you.
Keep pet animals away from the kids. These could cause allergy. Also ensure that the animals are properly vaccinated against rabies. Childproof all sharp edged furniture, stairs and other places that the kids can climb and fall down. Use comfortable lights in the bed room and elsewhere. Kids become disoriented in too bright or dim lights. Soil is home to germs and worms. Kids crawling on the soil outside expose themselves to skin problems and other diseases.
