Fun Themes for Toddler Thanksgiving

The thanksgiving season is a time of great fun and excitement for toddlers and parents alike. Toddlers now have reached an age when they are able, probably for the first time, to understand the true purpose of the season and actively participate in the celebrations. Hence, many parents try to make the season great fun and memorable for the toddlers.

Parents often read their toddlers historical stories from Thanksgiving books to make them understand that the season gives thanks to the union of all peoples that made possible self-sufficiency in food and resources. You can end the story by expressing your own special thanks and then let the kid say to whom and why s/he is thankful for.

Crafts are another sure way making the celebrations more fun. The activities can include coloring, painting and clay modeling which most toddlers love to do. They need to do these things in your company, because some of the items they handle such as staplers and scissors could be dangerous.

Keeping the activities as simple as possible will make the kids more interested and cooperative. For example, accompany the kid to collect from the front or back yard small items that s/he likes. These could be shining pebbles, finely shaped leaves, acorns or any harmless items and then help him/her to glue these in any design or pattern on to a sheet of construction paper. Hang the sheet on the wall in the playroom or you can gift it to any of your close relatives or friends.

You can use you imagination or get information from other sources such as books or websites to introduce more activities. However, make sure that these activities will arouse enough excitement in the household that the kids will remember these experiences as something precious even after they become grownups.
