Bathing Care for Toddlers

One of the best ways to keep toddlers in perfect cleanliness is to give them bath at least once or, if possible, two-three times a day. Use a baby friendly bath tub, and first pour hot water and then mix it with coldwater. Test the water with your elbow to make sure that it does not scald your baby’s skin. The water level should be at a safe level that the babies won’t drown in it.

Babies whose umbilical cord has fallen off can be laid in the water and bathed with baby-soap and towel. New born babies need to be washed with wash-rag and baby soap instead of laying them in the water. This procedure should follow until their umbilical cord has fallen off.

Toddlers could be given bath either by making them sitting or lying in the water. If they are sitting, use braces so that they won’t slip and hit their head against the side of the bathtub. Use mild soap, shampoo and soft cloth for the bathing. If possible, use only no-tear shampoos and soaps for the kids.

Also, make sure that the towels are soft enough for the tender skins of the babies. Finally, make sure that you are always with the baby while s/he is in the water.
Taking these steps will ensure that your little ones get a healthy bath without compromising on the safety aspects.
